Dr. Anike Serrano is a devoted medical professional whose journey is defined by a deep commitment to healthcare and a strong sense of humanitarianism. She obtained her Medical Doctorate in 2017 through the American University of Barbados, where she received comprehensive training in Atlanta, Georgia. During her training, she gained valuable experience at esteemed institutions such as Emory University, Kennestone State Regional Hospital, and Atlanta Medical Center North and South Campuses.
Dr. Serrano’s compassion and dedication to serving underserved communities have been widely recognized. She was honored with the prestigious Humanitarian Award in 2022 by the President of Barbados, Dame Sandra Mason, for her exceptional contributions to the welfare of her fellow citizens.
Throughout her career, Dr. Serrano has actively participated in a multitude of initiatives aimed at improving the lives of those in need. She organized and oversaw an Annual Health Fair from 2004 to 2015, providing essential medical services and health education to underserved populations.
Dr. Serrano’s philanthropic endeavors led to the establishment of a Chronic Health Educational Clinic, which she ran from 2012 to 2017. Furthermore, Dr. Serrano has augmented her medical expertise with specialized training at Harvard Medical School and gained extensive knowledge of HIV care through the National HIV Curriculum at the University of Washington.
Dr. Anike Serrano’s commitment to both healthcare and humanitarianism is evident in her role as a Medical Research Associate at The University of The West Indies, where she contributed to UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) – Global Challenges Research Fund/The Newton Fund. Her dedication to improving healthcare in underserved communities and advancing medical research underscores her status as an esteemed and compassionate medical professional.
